I guess it all depends which side of the Dixie you live on. Us west-coasties refer to single level construction as ‘ramblers’, those to the southeast call ‘em ‘ranchers’. Anyhoo, I just listed a brand spanky new rambler 12 quick minutes to downtown Bellingham.
